  Such a cool spot! Went here for my 21st birthday instead of going to a bar and had so much more fun! The staff is very friendly, and they provide such a welcoming and warm environment. Everyone is welcomed here. Not to mention, there's SOO MUCH TEA! You can try something different everyday and still have options. Our server and cashier Caitlyn was very helpful in making our tea decisions and treating us with sweets and sandwiches. Also the owner Debbie was so nice to talk to. She got a group photo of my friends and I, so we could be remember such a great day! Highly recommend!

  Itsy bitsy tiny tea shop in Alpharetta filled with 100+ loose tea blends...loose teas, tea tasting, boba tea and a version of Afternoon Tea. This is NOT like Ritz or F&M Afternoon Tea.  
  Urban Tea is located in the HD and WMT shopping center on Windward Parkway...immediately to the right of Which Wich.  This is a review for my first visit on a late Saturday afternoon for their Tea Tasting.  
  
  =    Ambiance is tiny...~6ft x 20 ft.?  The narrow and long room is divided into 2 spaces. The front room is a shop with a cashier and the opposite wall shelves with numbered loose tea jars.  There is a room divider for the 2nd space that has a communal table that seats ~ 8 people.  They do NOT have restrooms and customers can use the one at Which Wich.  There was a constant flow of shoppers and only one man worked both the front room for retail and also tended to the 2nd room for tea tastings.  Their climate control was noisy at times and the music was added to drown it out towards the end of our visit.  My friend made a reservation and we shared the table with another small group.
  
  +++  Our Tea Tasting included our choice of 6 teas each with 1 scone each.  UT has a large menu, 100+ loose teas but gets their limited pastries from a nearby shop.  The menu specifies the type and caffeine by group.   This is SELF guided and UT encourages you to look, smell the teas (jars that are on the front room shelves) to explorer and choose your teas.  That helped us to determine the tea to try.     The teas we tried were fantastic!  Much better than my expectation after my initial impression of the shop.  However their scones, chocolate and cranberry were dry and flavorless...Devonshire cream nor jam could help.  We decided to try teas from herbal to black.  Here are the teas I tried.  
    Urban Elixir #114 herbal - cardamom, orange peel, rose petals, turmeric, hibiscus blooms, lavender, Stevia leaves $4.99  
   Honey Rooibos #113 Rooibos - Rooibos, honey bee pollen, vanilla, caramel $4.49
   Organic Matcha #66 green - $7.99
   Milky Oolong #72 Oolong - special reserve (not a milk tea) $7.99
   Roasted Mate #85 black - $4.49
   Russian Caravan smoky #96 black - blended China and Indian with fruity flavor $4.49
  Each was freshly brewed and served hot.  All were quite impressive and I was blown away with Urban Elixir, Milky Oolong and Russian smoky.  I regularly drink Oolong and Russian Caravan, but UT's were more complex and silky!  
  My friend ordered 3 of the same and Berry Bunch#13 herbal, Roses #14 herbal and Love Thy Liver #108 tonic.  I tasted them as well and neither of us were fans of their tonic blend LTL.   She liked Berry Bunch which was slightly sweet and fruity.  My friend and I both liked Roses, it was very aromatic like you were eating a bouquet of flowers!  
  
  =    Prices are higher.  Our tasting was $18 per person and with the tip was about $25 each.  For loose leaf teas, the prices are per 1 oz. (listed next to each tea) with a minimum purchase of 2 oz.  
  
  =    Service was spread thin but friendly.   One employee served both the front of the store with a constant flow of customers and tended to tea tasters in between the traffic.    
  My friend is a tea extraordinaire (snob) and I'm fairly knowledgeable about teas.  Even so, the menu is large and it took a few minutes to figure out our approach.  For tastings for whiskies, wines, ciders, oils, vinegars etc., they are often guided as they are meant to explorer and discover.  They do NOT guide here.  Perhaps, a quick overview or an intro would help guide and serve their customers better.  They also should have a dedicated person for tea tastings so the service isn't so scattered.
  
  +    Parking is free and shared with other shops.
  
  Overall, their teas are superb and I would purchase teas to brew at home if I was nearby.  Tea-wise, UT fills the gap that Teavana left...unfortunately, everything else is much to be desired.

  During the hottt summer of 2017, my wife had booked for her and the girls in her family to have a "southern tea party" social as they were visiting Atlanta for the first time.  Once they came back, all raved at how awesome it was to try different teas, have pastries, and enjoy girl's day.  If we flash forward to this past year and a few months ago, my wife decided to take me here (knowing I like teas) and share the experience!
     
  As we drove to Urban Tea in Alpharetta, it is located in a busy plaza with multiple eateries and you may miss it driving (I almost did) as the sign isn't too large or prominent.  Nonetheless, you'll see it in the plaza (albeit being a tight and confine space).  Our experience together was great as the host provided us the option of trying a couple teas or trying six (which seemed like the better deal) for $18.  And as folks have stated in the reviews below, they have over 100 loose leaf teas so as much as it may seem overwhelming, the hosts are really knowledgeable about the teas and help guide you towards a favorable option.
   
  SERVICE = GREAT (Our host was knowledgeable about all the teas, checked up on us to make sure we were doing well, and offered us pastries if we desired).
  
  Since we chose the six tea tasting option and being it was during the fall season I tried Masala Chai, Pumpkin Spice, Hawaiian Punch, and a few more.  They were all really good with distinctive tastes and smells (all good) and were filled up to the top.  After three or four teas, it became hard to drink the other two but a few sips gave you the satisfaction of the tea and tastes.
  
  TEA DRINKS = GREAT (love the different types of teas; something for everyone and they even make bubble tea with a select few flavors if you'd like...)
  
  The ambience of the place one inside and in the private room makes you feel nice and classy (a tea parlor feel) but do wish there was some light music for distraction as the teas are being made...  But the overall feel to the inside is nice and personal/private.
  
  AMBIENCE = NICE (it's a quiet elegant place where you could have a party of 6-8 comfortably enjoy a good time).
  
  Overall, a great experience and a good time trying different teas and learning along the way.

  I have employees visiting from Costa Rica and they are tea drinkers like me.  I wanted a special event for them after lunch so I booked the full CommuniTea afternoon tea service for my group of seven.
  
  Booking was done quickly over the phone.  It was the first visit for my group and we found the shop to be quite small but charming. The left wall has over 100 jars of loose leaf teas. There is a menu that describes each jar by name and assigned number.
  
  The dining area for tea is in the back of the shop. The package included the following items for each person. One scone with a small ceramic condiment holder of clotted cream and preserves. One pastry cup that was dipped in chocolate and filled with a cream, one chocolate dipped strawberry, one small square of cake provided from the adjacent bakery Nothing Bundt Cakes, and a small portion of diced sharp cheddar cheese.
  
  Each person then chooses a tea from the wall which is then served in a small tea pot and is enough for two generous cups of tea.  Our group of seven chose seven different varieties and we then sipped and shared amongst our group. Every tea was delicious and served piping hot.  None disappointed.  
  
  The price was $12.50 per person plus tip. A fair price for the unique gourmet tea and treats.
  
  Overall my entire group agreed that we all enjoyed the experience however we do have some minor criticisms/suggestions.  
  
  Parking is a challenge.  The small lot is shared by several businesses.
  
  Service was a bit disjointed.  The lone employee was super friendly and we could feel her enthusiasm for the tea and products but we were often left waiting for tea, water, milk creamer, etc..  every time a customer walked in for a single cup of tea we were left waiting for something.  Pots of tea, water and food came spread out.
  
  Ideally we would have loved a dedicated server.
  
  Background music would be a nice touch to drown out the noisy HVAC system as well as the noise from other patrons entering for carry out tea.
  
  Scones were good but small. In my travels to Europe I consistently received a large scone perfect for spreading on the clotted cream and preserves.  
  
  Tea sandwiches would have been a nice touch. I have had afternoon tea service at The Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton and St. Regis Hotels.  I was kind of hoping for a similar experience but nothing savory is available or included in the package. For $12.50 it's a good value and the hotel tea packages were $38 per person but were in truly luxurious settings. I would encourage them to add the option of tea sandwiches and increase the price.
  
  I like this business and their unique tea selection.  I understand that they are a small business so employees must multitask which detracted a little from our experience.  
  
  I purchased loose leaf tea as did others in my group and we were all very happy with our tea.
  
  I recommend this place and do plan on future tea purchases here as well as tea events.

  Okay so I just want to give a thanks to the owner of Urban Tea who took time to hear my concerns with my experience and implement change. I visited again (at a random time) and was pleasantly surprised to see more treats/pastries for sale, the bins of teas refreshed to the top, and the staff attentive. I ordered an iced jasmine green tea (I believe) and it was delicious and the cup is HUGE so I dipped on it all day. Next time I come back I'd like to try some loose leaf tea to go, that I can make at home!
